Meet the team of Northwood Veterinary Hospital! We strive to provide exceptional services for you and your pets.
Dr. Hugh Davis was selected for the inaugural class of Tufts Veterinary in Massachusetts. In his 30 years of practice, he has focused on top quality medicine with a common sense approach that concentrates on the pet and engages the owner. He has worked in rural locations and in Boston, in single and multi-doctor practices, and also emergency medicine. As the owner of NVH, Dr. Davis is happy to bring extensive experience of experience to what he enjoys the most - practicing community-based medicine with ongoing and long-term relationships with his clients.
While Dr. Davis loves all aspects of caring for his patients, he has a special interest in surgery, especially orthopedics. He continues to hone his skills in these areas with continuing education in the latest techniques and procedures.
He lives on a small farm here in Northwood with his wife, Nancy Fantom, owner of Saddleback Pet Services. They have 3 great children, 2 incredibly cute grandsons, and many four-footed friends. Dr. Davis and Nancy love to travel and have been co-leaders of a spay/neuter mission to rural Mexico since 2000.

Her pet family includes Shiraz- a St. Kits Island dog, Stitch- a Labrador retriever, Gracie- a one-eyed sweetheart Domestic Short Hair, and Grayson- a crazy Maine Coon kitten. When she’s not saving animals or spending time with her family she enjoys other activities like swimming, hiking, and photography.

Carrie has 3 cats, 2 dogs and is an active chicken farmer and supplies cage-free eggs to the Co-op in Concord.
Jill is the happy face and enthusiastic voice of Northwood Veterinary Hospital – she is usually who greets you at the front desk and answers our phone! We have been lucky to have her as part of our team since 2005. She has worked with animals most of her life at various kennels and rescues, including for Dr. Davis’ wife, Nancy, at Saddleback Pet.

We are pleased that she joined our team to continue her education and hone her practical skills. When Alexa is not working, she enjoys being at home with her very vocal Tonkinese and Siamese cats, Leo and Sierra, as well as hiking, and spending time with friends.
Rachel made the move to the veterinary field from retail after finding her passion for animals. She has a special interest in the business and management aspects of the hospital and is our pet insurance coordinator and technology expert. Rachel enjoys client education and helping owners make the best decisions for their pets in both the areas of preventative and critical care. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, her cat, Beanie, and her scruffy southern rescue pup, Gumbo. If Rachel is not hard at work at NVH, you can usually find her up in the Rangeley Lakes of Maine or wading in NH rivers fly fishing with her own hand tied flies.
Jenna joined our NVH team as an intern for her veterinary technician program and we liked her so much, we hired her! Jenna is now a graduate of Great Bay with her degree in Veterinary Technology and will take her CVT exam soon. Jenna’s kind manner and excellent skills help her patients and their owners feel relaxed and comfortable, knowing they are receiving great care. She loves her new career as a vet tech and it shows in her smile at work! Jenna has an adopted hound, Lemon, that enjoys hiking with her Mom every chance they get; she also likes to surf, eat and enjoy the outdoors.
Rileigh found her passion for animals in high school during her various animal science classes. She spent 4 years living in the Florida Keys where she gained a deep love for marine science, especially sharks. While there, Rileigh participated in several shark research and tagging trips. She took her passion to the University of New Hampshire where she is continuing her education. Rileigh is working to get her CVT and bachelors degree in the hopes of continuing on to become a small animal veterinarian. When Rileigh is not working, she enjoys spending time at the lake, cheering on the Red Sox and napping in the hammock with her (perfect) French bulldog puppy, Sig. Rileigh grew up with American bulldogs and also proudly adopted a cat from the hospital, Bernard, who now rules their house from the sofa and keeps everyone in line.

Abby is gentle and kind to all our patients and you often see her sitting on the floor comforting a patient waking from surgery. When Abby is not working or studying, she loves being with her family, tending to her garden, drawing, and spending time with her animals.
