Importance of Spaying and Neutering Your Pet

Spaying and Neutering Your Pet

At Northwood Veterinary Hospital, we provide extensive veterinary care for your pets. One of these services is a spay & neuter. As a standard procedure, we have the experience and expertise to provide safe and effective spay & neuter services. In addition, we are dedicated to your pets' health and well-being, providing various medical services, including wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care, and surgery.

Health Benefits of Spaying and Neutering

Spaying and neutering are the most effective and beneficial medical procedures you can provide for your pet. When you spay your female dog or cat, you prevent possible breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and uterine infections. You will also prevent them from having pyometra and false pregnancies. There has been a lot of research suggesting how important it is to spay your pet before their first heat cycle. The earlier you fix your dog or cat, the more likely she will be to maintain a healthy weight and avoid certain reproductive cancers.

Prevents Overpopulation

You're helping control the pet population when you have this procedure done for your pet. Yet, many pets never find a loving home because too many are born yearly. Many end up in the humane society or get euthanized because no one is willing to adopt them.

Save Money

Spaying may save you money in the long run if you have a female dog or cat. Health conditions can be expensive to treat and could have otherwise been prevented. You'll notice behavioral changes, like less marking and aggression. You'll have an overall happier and healthier pet! Our veterinary professional in Northwood is committed to ensuring all our clients get the care and attention they deserve.
